BC Games Zone 2 team did KBC proud!!
March 18, 2026 1:00 pmThe Kelowna Badminton Club is incredibly proud of the Zone 2 Badminton Team, made up entirely of KBC athletes, who delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 BC Winter Games in Trail, BC.
We would like to congratulate Candice, Lucy, Catherine, Candyna, Daniel, Avery, Chase, Isaac, and Jeremy for being exceptional representatives of our club. Throughout the event, they demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm, hard work, and sportsmanship, embodying the true spirit of KBC both on and off the court.
Special Recognitions ⭐
A special shout-out goes to Avery, who was awarded the prestigious BC Games Legacy Bursary, an honour given to only 12 athletes across all sports at the Games. This is a remarkable achievement that recognizes Avery’s commitment to both sport and academics. Congratulations!
We would also like to recognize Lucy, who received the award for “Most Sportsmanlike Female Athlete” in badminton. A well-deserved honour that reflects her attitude, character, and respect for the game.
Behind the Scenes Heroes 🙌
A big thank you to Mike and Denise, our very own Masters of the Draw Desk, who once again ran the badminton event flawlessly. It was a special moment for athletes and parents alike to hear those familiar voices from home.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Sarah, our female chaperone, who gave up her weekend (and comfort!) to support the team – even if it meant sleeping on a classroom floor. Your dedication did not go unnoticed.
And of course, a heartfelt thank you to Coach TK, who has worked with these athletes over the past year to prepare them for this experience. Alongside him, we would also like to recognize Nachi, who was there early in the mornings, supporting training sessions. It was truly heartwarming to see her passion, commitment, and connection with the athletes, which played a meaningful role in building team confidence and contributing to their success. The athletes were incredibly fortunate to have both TK and Nachi guiding them through this memorable journey.
A Community Effort 💚
Lastly, we want to recognize the incredible group of parents who supported this team throughout the year. Your encouragement, time, and commitment have been instrumental in creating such a positive and successful environment for these young athletes. It truly takes a community to build a team like this.
KBC is proud of everything this group has accomplished. With the talent, dedication, and spirit shown by this team, the future of KBC badminton looks incredibly bright and promising.
– Lyndsay Thomson (Junior Director), on behalf of the entire KBC board.
