Thank You for Making the Kelowna Winter Open 2026 a Success!

The Kelowna Badminton Club would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in, volunteered for, and supported the Kelowna Winter Open 2026 Fundraiser Tournament. Thanks to your incredible support, the event was a great success both on and off the court.

We welcomed 63 entries, including a fantastic group of players from Kamloops, who shared that they thoroughly enjoyed their weekend at KBC. Overall, the feedback from participants was positive, and it was wonderful to see such strong competition paired with great sportsmanship and community spirit.

Fundraising Impact 💚

We are pleased to share that $2,200 was raised from the tournament and will be donated by KBC toward the 2026 Yonex Canadian Masters Championships. This would not have been possible without the support and participation of our community, and we sincerely thank everyone who helped make this happen.

Our 50/50 draw was also a success, with a total pool of $980. In an incredibly generous gesture, Val Warwick and her son Steve Warwick, who won the draw, donated the entire amount back to KBC to support the Nationals fundraiser. This act of kindness truly embodies the spirit of our club. A huge thank you, Val and Steve, for your amazing generosity.

Thank You to Our Incredible Kitchen Team 🍲

Our food continues to be a standout feature at KBC tournaments, and this weekend was no exception. A massive thank you goes to Val Warwick, who took the lead in organizing the kitchen, along with Donna, Doug Elmore, Robert Berthelotte, and Tony Neville, as well as other parents and volunteers who ensured players were well fed throughout the weekend. It was encouraging to see some parents of our junior players volunteer in the kitchen while their kids were competing on the courts.

Special mention goes to Robert Berthelotte, whose chilli received rave reviews and was widely described as one of the best chilis people had ever had! We truly could not run a successful tournament without the dedication of our kitchen team. Thank you all.
