Renew your memberships by October 9!!
October 4, 2023 11:13 amDear KBC Member:
September marks the start of our 2023/24 season at the Kelowna Badminton Club and membership renewals have been available since August 1. If you have already renewed your membership, thank you for continuing to support your club and badminton in the Central Okanagan.
If you have not already done so, you can renew your membership here: https://kelownabadminton.ca/product-category/membership-renewals/
The grace period for last year’s memberships extends to October 9, 2023. After this date, you will need a current 2023/24 membership to play at the club and access the building. Please renew before October 9 to maintain continuous access.
Our popular junior training program has started, with our dedicated set of coaches – Matt, TK and Shen – continuing to develop our young athletes. We encourage all juniors to take part in this program, and there is still space in several sessions. You can find out more information here: https://kelownabadminton.ca/coaching-2/junior-training/
The tournaments we hosted last year were a huge success and we hope to build on this for the coming year. First up will be the Kelowna Open, which we are tentatively planning to host this fall. Stay tuned for more specifics soon. We have also been awarded the BC Masters provincial finals again and look forward to hosting this end-of season 30+ tournament in the spring. We encourage members to get involved and give some friendly competition a try.
Finally, we’d like to remind everyone of the following items to make managing the club easier:
- Outside shoes are not allowed on any part of courts. Please change into indoor-only court shoes prior to walking anywhere on the wood floors. This keeps dirt and grit off the floors, which can damage the courts or create unsafe conditions to play. Please help your club by gently reminding others of this important and intentional policy.
- For the privilege of being able to book courts at KBC we ask that members follow some simple rules. In particular, please list the full names of all players in the Notes field of your booking. Any guests should also be noted here and their guest fee paid prior to playing (https://kelownabadminton.ca/kbc-guest-fee/). Our complete booking policy can be found at https://kelownabadminton.ca/kbc-booking-policy/. Everyone booking courts needs to be aware of this, particularly as the courts get busier in the fall.
- All members entering the building must individually card in with their access key. You can hold the door open for someone, but everyone must tap their card as they enter. If your card is lost or damaged, please contact memberships@kelownabadminton.ca to obtain a replacement.
KBC offers an excellent badminton experience, including a variety of groups, individually bookable courts and opportunities for training. It’s a superb facility with a thriving community, all run by a passionate team of volunteers. This ensures affordable membership rates, making KBC the best deal for badminton in Canada. Your cooperation with the rules is vital as we have nearly 600 members sharing five fantastic courts. We encourage you to engage in club improvements. If you have questions, suggestions, or want to contribute in any way, feel free to reach out to any member of the Board.
Have a great year of badminton!
