August 10, 2023 8:55 amInvitation from Nanaimo Open Organizing Committee:
We are very pleased to announce that the 2023 Nanaimo Open and Masters is now open for registration. We have a great venue here in Nanaimo with 8 courts at Oliver Woods Community Centre. Your registration includes a dinner and social at the Nanaimo Golf Club as well as assorted healthy, hot and cold snacks on Friday night. There will be a sandwich bar and buffet from 11:00 – 2:00 Saturday for everyone.
Online Registration: https://badmintoncanada.tournamentsoftware.com/tournament/670FDDAE-ECFF-40C2-978B-0EA68AF31F45
Please indicate on your entry if you will be attending the dinner (including your meal selection and special dietary restrictions) and social at the Nanaimo Golf Club on Saturday evening. We will have recorded music, and dancing is encouraged! https://www.nanaimogolfclub.ca
Ferry Reservations… book now or very soon!
If you are travelling from mainland BC by car, you need to book your reservation now. Reservations are $10 if paying your fare in advance, and $18 if only paying the reservation fee in advance. Reservations can be cancelled for refund minus a $5 fee up to 4 days prior to departure. We strongly recommend booking your reservation now. Booking now will guarantee you a spot! 🙂
- If you are booking Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay on Friday, the morning or early afternoon sailings are best so that any traffic or ferry delays do not cause disruptions to the draws. The 12 pm sailing is sold out. The morning sailings and the 1:25 and 3.55 pm sailings still have availability. The 3:55 pm is too late if you are playing mixed doubles. https://www.bcferries.com/book-sailings
- The draw desk will try to accommodate all Sunday players returning on the 1:25 or 3:55 pm sailings if you let them know Saturday afternoon. The Tsawassen to Duke point is another good option, particularly if you are from Richmond or Surrey.
If you can stay with a friend in Nanaimo for the tournament, and they can provide you some transportation, you can go walk-on with BC Ferries, or try the new Hullo fast ferry. 70 minutes from downtown Vancouver! https://hullo.com/
Hotel Rebates and Tournament Hotel
We received another generous grant from the Nanaimo Hospitality Association, and we will again be offering a $15/night rebate for participants staying in an Association Hotel. This can be collected at the registration desk. https://nanimohospitality.ca/membership/
The Tournament Hotel, will be the Inn on Long Lake. Unfortunately, as of mid July, all their regular rooms were booked for our weekend. They have 7 suites available for $200/night with one sofa bed, or either 2 Queens or 1 King. If you split a suite with a friend, this will be cheaper than booking anywhere else. Please go to the Regulations for more details. We have also listed 3 other Nanaimo Hospitality Association motels along with links.
